Work with us.

We hire across pig farming, arable, contracting and food production. Long service is the rule here, not the exception, and we are happy to train. Roles based at Spains Hall in Essex, or at Procter's Sausages in Ipswich.

What it is like to work here

A working family farm, not a corporate one.

FJ Bosworth & Sons has been a family business since 1919 and a working farm at Spains Hall since 1934. We have grown, we have invested in modern equipment and a proper contracting operation, and we have acquired Procter's Sausages in Ipswich, but the core of how we work has not changed. People here know each other, know the land, and know what good work looks like.

We pay properly, we train people through NVQ qualifications and industry events, we run production bonuses where they make sense, and we expect people to take pride in the work. In return, we get a team that knows its job and is happy to keep doing it.

30+ yrs
Long service, not unusual

“Alex Lake who has been employed by the business since June 1996 was awarded one of The Essex Agricultural Society's Long Service Awards on Sunday 22 May 2022.”

Why work with us

What you can expect from us.

Real training and progression

NVQ qualifications, attendance at industry events, and the kind of hands-on learning that only comes from working alongside people who have been here for decades.

A range of work

Pig farming, arable, contracting and food processing at Procter's. People often move between roles as they develop. Few jobs here are narrow.

Modern equipment

A growing fleet of well-specified, RTK-guided machinery. We invest in kit that does the job properly, which makes the working day better for the people running it.

Pay, bonuses and recognition

We pay properly for skilled work, run production bonuses where they make sense, and treat long service as something to be celebrated rather than assumed.
