01 · Who we areWho we are
F J Bosworth & Sons Ltd is a family farming business registered in England. We operate the farm at Spains Hall, Willingale, Essex CM5 0QE, the agricultural contracting and hire business operated from the same address, and Procter's Sausages, the consumer brand based in Ipswich.
For the purposes of UK GDPR we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website and through enquiries made to us by phone, email or WhatsApp.
02 · What we collectWhat we collect
We try to keep this short. The personal data we hold is limited to what we genuinely need to do business with you:
- Enquiry details. When you get in touch by phone, email, WhatsApp or via any of the contact links on the site, we receive your name, the contact channel you used, and whatever you choose to tell us about your enquiry.
- Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to our articles newsletter, we hold your email address. Signup uses double opt-in, which means we send a confirmation message before adding you.
- Job applications. If you apply for a role or send a speculative application, we keep your CV, covering message and any documents you send us for as long as the recruitment process requires.
- Server and security logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information (IP address, browser, request time) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. We do not use this for marketing.
We do not run advertising trackers on this site. We do not buy or sell personal data.
03 · How we use itHow we use it
We use the personal data we collect to:
- Reply to your enquiry and, where relevant, deliver the service (contracting job, hire booking, trade enquiry to Procter's, etc.).
- Send the articles newsletter, if you subscribed. Each newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe.
- Consider job applications and contact you about the role.
- Keep records of work done, invoices issued and correspondence, in line with our legal obligations (HMRC, accountancy, contractual records).
- Operate the site itself: server logs, security monitoring, fixing bugs.
04 · Lawful basisLawful basis
UK GDPR requires us to tell you the lawful basis we rely on for each use of your personal data.
- Performance of a contract. When you have booked a contracting job, hired equipment, or otherwise asked us to deliver a service, we process the data needed to do that work and invoice for it.
- Legitimate interests. Replying to enquiries you have sent us, considering job applications you have submitted, keeping our website secure, and reviewing how the site is performing. We have weighed our interest in running the business against your privacy and think this use is proportionate; you can object at any time (see your rights, below).
- Consent. The articles newsletter is sent only to people who have actively opted in. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by writing to us.
- Legal obligation. Where we are required to retain records (for example, tax records or food-traceability documents for the pork side of the business).
05 · Who we share it withWho we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the suppliers and partners that help us run the business, and only to the extent needed:
- Our website hosting and email providers, who process data on our instructions under standard data-processing terms.
- Our newsletter provider, if you have subscribed.
- Our accountants, auditors and HMRC, where we are required to keep or submit records.
- The Procter's Sausages team in Ipswich, where your enquiry concerns trade, wholesale or the consumer product. We will tell you when we are passing an enquiry across.
- Law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required to do so.
06 · How long we keep itHow long we keep it
We do not keep personal data for longer than we need to. As a rough guide:
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: typically up to twelve months, then deleted.
- Customer records (contracting, hire, trade): the duration of the relationship and at least six years afterwards for tax and legal-record reasons.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we do not accidentally re-add you.
- Unsuccessful job applications: up to twelve months unless you ask us to delete sooner or to keep your details on file for longer.
- Server logs: generally 30 to 90 days, depending on the provider.
07 · Cookies and analyticsCookies and analytics
This site is deliberately light on tracking. We do not run third-party advertising cookies. If we add any privacy-respecting analytics in future (for example a self-hosted or aggregated visitor counter), we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Some pages embed content from third parties, such as map links to Google Maps or links to social-media profiles. We do not load those services in the page itself; following the links takes you to the third party, who will set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
08 · Your rightsYour rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask for a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your personal data, where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict or stop a particular use, including unsubscribing from the newsletter.
- Object to processing that we are doing on the basis of legitimate interests.
- Ask for your data in a portable form, where that applies.
To exercise any of these rights, write to us using the contact details below. We will reply within one month, and there is no fee for a normal request.
If you are not happy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put things right, but the right to complain is yours either way.
09 · Third-party sitesThird-party sites
This site links to other websites, including Procter's Sausages, social-media profiles and Google Maps. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your personal data. Each of them publishes its own privacy policy; please check it before sharing anything you would not want them to have.
10 · Changes to this policyChanges to this policy
We update this page when we change how we collect or use personal data. The “last updated” date at the top of the page tells you when it was most recently revised. Where the change is material, we will flag it on the home page or by email to anyone we hold contact details for.
