Four generations of arable and pig farming in Essex, with a growing contracting and hire operation and our own pork brand. This is who we are, the people behind it, and what we have built so far.
FJ Bosworth & Sons started in 1919, when Fred Bosworth came back from the First World War and bought his first pigs. We moved to Spains Hall in Willingale in 1934, and four generations later we are still here, still farming, and still finding new ways to do it well.
Today, the business is run by Stuart and Jack Bosworth. We grow arable crops across 330 hectares, we raise pigs that are fed on grain we mill ourselves, and we offer a precision agricultural contracting and machinery hire service to farmers and land managers across Essex. In 2024 we acquired Procter's Sausages, the Ipswich-based brand that turns our pork into something you can put on a plate.

In 2024 we acquired Procter's Sausages, an Ipswich-based sausage maker with a strong local following. It gave us a direct route from our fields to the plates of the people who eat what we grow and raise. Procter's has its own home online, where you can find the full range, place an order, or get in touch about trade and wholesale.
As the fourth generation to manage the family farming business, I see myself as a custodian with my job being to protect, manage and develop F J Bosworth & Sons.
I am proud of our heritage and our values. Everyday we strive to give our all for our animals, our people and our environment.
